NWP Rwanda water platform meeting - Water, agriculture and (geo) information opportunities

NWP Rwanda water platform meeting - water, agriculture and (geo) information opportunities

On 7 July next, 14h00-17h00, a Rwanda water platform meeting will be held about ongoing projects and developments on water, agriculture and (geo) information technology in Rwanda. The program covers integrated water resource management (IWRM), ICT and spatial information technology. The meeting will end with a networking opportunity.

A key element of the meeting concerns opportunities for the Dutch sector operating in the field of Smart Information Solutions for Water & Climate and AgriFood. The following findings will be discussed: a lower catchment level study on offer (Dutch Geo/ICT sector); discussions with the Rwanda Ministry of Agriculture to start up a monitoring strategy and; the Rwanda Ministry of Youth and ICT wants to make use of the FAO water productivity open database for future mobile ICT application building.

These opportunities were identified during a mission following the UN-World Water Day Conference organised by the Water for Growth program (21 - 23 March 2016). The mission was facilitated by RVO, as follow-up to an earlier mission of the Netherlands Space Office - NSO in the context of the Geodata for Agriculture & Water - G4AW Programme (2015).
