Welcome to the Balkan survey. The aim of this survey is to identify the interests and ambitions of the Dutch water sector in Balkan region and to select one country with the most export potential. Your response will influence the collective approach to strengthen the export position and to develop successful Balkan – Dutch public – private oriented partnerships.
The Dutch ‘Top Sector Water’ has established ambitious goals in relation to the impact of the Dutch water sector in foreign countries. Europe can be considered as an important export market for the Netherlands. Especially, the Balkan countries have been identified as rising economies. Combined with the water challenges of the Balkan region, this can create opportunities for the Dutch Water sector. In specific, water and delta technology are areas of expertise with potential, due to the exposure to flooding and extreme drought. Regarding delta and watershed management some knowledge institutes and consulting agencies are already involved in this region. Therefore, parallel to the export relations with Poland and Romania, the Partners for Water programme 2016-2021 has launched the ‘focus approach Balkan Region’. This project runs until the end of 2017 and aims to support you and generate interesting market opportunities for the Dutch Water sector in the Balkan region.
