The impact of cardiac arrest in children in terms of morbidity and mortality is high. Prognostication remains a great challenge for health care providers and guidelines are lacking.
Survivors may suffer from long-term sequelae on different domains (physical, cognitive, neurological and social-emotional). Long term follow-up is crucial in order to identify problems and to counsel (future) children and parents/caregivers.
The ultimate goal is to develop an international prognostication guideline and to improve long-term outcome by therapeutic interventions and reduce societal impact.
